Durgasur

Durgasur is a Hindu demon. He had the vicious power that no man can kill him, and he tries to gain supremacy in Shiva's abode Kailash in his absence but is killed by Parvati in the form of Goddess Durga.
By the grace of Lord Brahma, Durgasur takes over the three worlds by absorbing the vedas. For the gods, Vedas are the sources of power. The gods approach Lord Shiva for help, who, in turn, requests Parvati to kill Durgasur because Parvati is the original representation of Adi Shakti, the source of power to the Vedas themselves. That gives a unique power to Parvati, who can destroy Durgasur even if he uses the Vedas to protect him. Parvati sends a messenger, known as Kaal Ratri, a clone of Parvati, to Durgasur to ask him to surrender heaven back to the gods. However, Durgasur fails to use the opportunity, becomes furious and orders his soldiers to take Kaal Ratri to custody. By assuming a gigantic size, Kaal Ratri vanishes. Parvati appears in the war field and gives her introduction to Durgasur as "she is nature, the primordial power, not any God, man or a demon". After a long battle, she destroys the demon Durgasur. Parvati is now praised by the gods as Durga.
