Drew C. MacEwen


Drew C. MacEwen is an American politician of the Republican Party. He is a member of the Washington House of Representatives, representing the 35th district.

Military service and education

After graduating from the navy's Nuclear Propulsion Program, he served in the submarine force of the United States Navy for six years. His connection with Western Washington was developed and strengthened while being stationed at Naval Base Kitsap. MacEwen would later go on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree from the State University of New York.

Personal business and community involvement

MacEwen entered the financial serves industry upon completion of his naval service. He is the founder and president of the investment firm Falcon Financial Inc. in Union, Washington. He has also invested in a number of businesses throughout Mason and Kitsap Counties. These include Smoking Mo's in Shelton, Corner Coffee and Cafe in Bremerton, and Central Dock in Port Orchard. MacEwen is also very active in a number of community organizations including Rotary, Love Inc., Mason General Hospital Foundation, and Kitsap Medical Society. MacEwen is also a past president of the Shelton-Mason Chamber of Commerce.

Political career

MacEwen is on the House Republican leadership team, currently serving as assistant floor leader. He is also the assistant ranking member on the House Appropriations Committee and also serves on the House Capital Budget and Health Care and Wellness committees.
Additionally, MacEwen serves on the Joint Committee on Veterans' and Military Affairs and the Joint Task Force on Economic Resilience of Maritime and Manufacturing in Washington. He is also an ex-officio member of the Washington Wildlife Recreation Coalition.
Political agenda
MacEwen is committed to and a strong advocate for funding education first. He is also committed to reforming the state's business and occupation tax code, improving government accountability, and encouraging private sector job growth to improve the economy.
Election history
In 2012, MacEwen defeated Lynda Ring Erickson of the Democratic Party by a margin of 51.84% to 48.16%. In 2014, he defeated Tammy Newton of the Democratic Party by a margin of 59.21% to 40.79%. In 2016, he defeated Craig Patti of the Independent Democratic Party by a margin of 54.21% to 45.79%.
Political future
MacEwen is reportedly considering a bid for Governor of Washington in 2020.
