The company was founded in 2006 as Esprit Capital, renaming itself Draper Esprit in 2015 after joining a network set up by the Silicon Valley investor Tim Draper. The company listed in London and Dublin in June 2016.

Notable exits include the acquisitions of Tails by Nestlé Purina PetCare, Grapeshot by Oracle Corporation, and Movidius by Intel.
