Early childhood and education

As the Islamic Revolution started to emerge, her parents decided to send her to Los Angeles, California in the United States to complete high school at the age of 15.
When she was 16 years old in 1979, Granpeesheh attended the University of California, Los Angeles where she met Ivar Lovaas, Ph.D., a UCLA professor who was pioneering an early intervention to teach children with autism called discrete trial training, an intensive and structured modality derived from the science of applied behavior analysis.

In 2014, Granpeesheh published Evidence-Based Treatment for Children with Autism: The CARD Model with co-editors Jonathan Tarbox, Ph.D., BCBA-D, Adel Najdowski, Ph.D.,BCBA-D, and Julie Kornack.
