Donegi Abena


Donegi Abena is a Surinamese-Dutch kickboxer fighting for Glory. He is the #4 ranked light heavyweight in Glory, as of May 2020.
As of 5 March 2020, he is ranked the #6 light-heavyweight in the world by Combat Press.

Kickboxing career

Early career

Abena made his debut in 2014, during Go Hard Or Go Home 7, when he faced Fabio Brent. He won the fight by decision. This would be the first of his five fight winning streak. He would suffer his first professional loss to the Czech Jan Soukup. He would lose his next fight as well, dropping a decision to Petr Romankevich.
During FFC 25 he would achieve a TKO win over Maurice Jackson, which would begin his second career winning streak. His four fight winning streak would earn his a place in the WLF 8 man Super Heavyweight Tournament. In the semifinals bout he won the rematch with Petr Romankevich, but suffered a KO loss to the tournament winner Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
Bouncing back with a win over Fabien Fouquet during FFC 29, he entered the A1 WCC Heawyweight Qualification Tournament. In the semifinals he beat Wendell Roche and Brian Douwes in the finals.
After a win over Clyde Brunswijk, he entered the A1WCC Champions League. After beating Luis Tavares in the quarter finals and Adnan Rezovic in the semifinals, he faced Mohamed Abdellah in the final match. He would lose by way of decision.
Moving to the Absolute Championship Berkut he earned the best win of his career, with a unanimous decision win over Andrei Stoica.

GLORY Kickboxing

Following this, he signed with Glory. In his debut fight, during Glory 62, he fought Stephane Susperregui. He won by unanimous decision. In his second fight with the organization, he defeated Michael Duut.
This led him to a fight for the Glory Light Heavyweight Championship against the champion Artem Vakhitov. He would fail to capture the title.
Three months later he fought for the interim Light Heavyweight title against Alex Pereira. Abena lost to the pound-for-pound great.
