Founding in 2003 alongside Dominion High School, Student Council facilitates the school's mission statement of encouraging an active membership in the community through service, and by leading as a positive role model for one's peers. With the innovative efforts of founding principal Dr. John Brewer, a spirit rock was introduced shortly after the school opened in 2003, as an effort to decrease vandalism while facilitating students free speech. Past activities include hosting homecoming festivities such as the parade, feast, court and dance, as well as orchestrating pep rallies.
Drama
In 2009, the school joined the Cappies Awards Program of the Northern Virginia/DC Metro Area. In the 2016-2017 academic year, seniors Elijah Pafumi, Kathryn Allen, and Emma Karren were nominated for best male vocalist in a musical, best female vocalist in a musical, and best comic actress in a musical respectively, for their roles in the spring musical "Cinderella".
Band
The concert band has grown from one class to two over the years, Ensembles 1 and 2. Both attend VBODA's District Festival every year. In 2009-2010, for the first time in school history, both ensembles received a score of superior. Due to the achievements of the marching band in the fall, Ensemble 1 received the distinction of Honor Band for the first time since 2006-07. The jazz band is a smaller program that does not compete, but performs at school assemblies with the Latin Dance team, and with the local elementary schools' Latin percussion students.
Global Ambassadors
In 2009 a group students, inspired by a trans-formative experience from a trip to India, created the Global Ambassadors Club. The club's mission is to expand the global perspectives of the student body through service initiatives, international exchanges, and hosting an international summit. Service initiatives led by the club have included benefit concerts to support Save Darfur and El Refugio, various fundraisers to fund a playground for Saharsa Deepika, a change drive to raise funds for International Justice Mission, a canned food drive to support needy families in the community, and a drive to collect items of need for the Loudoun Transitional Housing Program. In 2011-2012 the club engaged the student body in an online voting and texting campaign to secure $10,000 in funding through the Pepsi Refresh Project to support the first ever Dominion International Youth Leadership Summit. The summit, which also received funding from the Loudoun Education Foundation and One Loudoun, brought student delegations from six countries for ten days to explore global issues alongside the Dominion student body. In 2012-2013 the summit was expanded to the Loudoun International Youth Leadership Summit, with neighboring Park View High School also hosting a school from Costa Rica. Yearly, delegates from Dominion High school travel to the Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Summit hosted by the Hwa-Chong institute in Singapore.
