Dionisio Dogan
Dionisio Dogan was an Irish Soldier at the service of the Spanish Crown. He served during the first years of the 18th century, fulfilling military services in Cádiz, Buenos Aires and Montevideo.Biography
Dogan was born in Ireland, son of John Duggan and Anne Maggin, belonging to traditional Irish families linked to the Irish Brigade. He came to Rio de la Plata, with the contingent of 180 soldiers, embarked on Apr. 1717 in Cádiz, Spain.
Dionisio Dogan was married on March 21, 1718, to Tomasa Marin, daughter of Juan Marín, born in Galicia, and María Riberos, born in Buenos Aires. He was the maternal grandfather of Juan Martín de Pueyrredón, Supreme Director of the United Provinces of the Río de la Plata in 1819.
