Dhanbari Nawab family


The Nawabs of Dhanbari claim to be descended from Muslim preacher Shah Atiqullah. He came from Baghdad to Delhi in the Mughal period. His descendant Shah Sultan went in Bengal. Shah Khoda Bakhsh was one of the member of this dynasty. He was the founder of Dhanbari Nawab family. However, Muhammad Mojlum Khan writes in The Muslim Heritage of Bengal that "there is no conclusive evidence" of the family's descent from Shah Atiqullah.
