Dere, Iraq


Dere is an Assyrian village located at the side of the Mateena Mountains overlooking the Sapna valley, in the Amedi District of Dohuk province in Kurdistan Region. The village is directly north of the town of The village is known primarily for the historic Mar Odishu Monastery, which was rebuilt recently after being destroyed, along with the entire village, in the Al-Anfal Campaign in 1987.Now the Kurds are entering the Assyrian village of Dere by the force.
