Denmark in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012
Denmark participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan. The Danish entry was selected through Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2012, a national selection organised by the Danish broadcaster DR. Soluna Samay represented Denmark with the song "Should've Known Better", which qualified from the first semi-final and went on to place 23rd in the final, scoring 21 points.

Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2012
On 15 May 2011, one day after the 2011 Contest had been held in Germany, DR announced its participation in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012, to be held in Baku, Azerbaijan.Dansk Melodi Grand Prix 2012 was held on 21 January 2012 in the Gigantium arena in Aalborg, which previously also hosted the 2006 and 2010 shows.
Competing entries
Potential entries could be submitted until 26 September 2011 at noon. A total of 678 songs were submitted to DR. According to the rules of the competition, 9-10 songs would be selected to compete in the final; 6 songs selected in open competition among the entries submitted and 3-4 wildcard entries invited on the basis of editorial considerations. The line-up of 10 acts was announced on 5 January 2012. However, one of the selected finalist songs was disqualified after it was released before the date allowed by the European Broadcasting Union and thus breaking the rules. Final
The winning was chosen in two rounds of voting. In the first round, viewers and a Danish professional jury select the top 3 songs. The winner was then chosen among those three songs by the viewers, the Danish jury and four international professional juries, representing Azerbaijan, Germany, Norway and Russia. In both voting rounds, the viewers' votes accounted for 50% of the total score, while jury votes accounted for the rest. Denmark competed in the second half of the first semi-final on 22 May and qualified to the final. In the final, Denmark performed in fifteenth position, scoring a total of 21 points and placing 23rd out of 26 songs.Split results
- In the Semi-final 1 Denmark came 9th place with 63 points: the public awarded Denmark 9th place with 53 points and the jury awarded 6th place with 81 points.
- In the Final Denmark came 23rd with 21 points: the public awarded Denmark 23rd place with 18 points and the jury awarded 21st place with 51 points.
