In the first round, the top four songs based on the combination of votes from a public SMS vote and a six-member jury panel qualified to a second round of voting. In the final round, the winner was determined exclusively by SMS voting.
The six-member jury panel was composed of:
Songs could be submitted to DR until 27 September 2010. Performers or songwriters were required to hold Danish citizenship or have correspondingly strong relationships with Denmark, while there was no restriction on the language of the entries. The broadcaster received 663 entries, 101 songs more than the previous year. A preliminary jury selected seven songs from the entries submitted to the broadcaster, while an additional three acts: Anne Noa, Jenny Berggren and Stine Kinck, were invited by the broadcaster to compete based on editorial considerations. The competing artists and songs were announced on 3 February 2011.
