Dene Barton Community Hospital


Dene Barton Community Hospital is a small NHS hospital located in Cotford St Luke, near Taunton, Somerset, England. It is managed by the Somerset Partnership NHS Foundation Trust.

History

The hospital was established as a step-down unit at a cost of £700,000 in 2002. The in-patient facilities at the hospital were closed for the foreseeable future in October 2017 because of staffing shortages.

Facilities

The hospital, which has 40 inpatient beds, offers facilities which include a Clinical Assessment and Treatment Unit, which cares for patients who need a short span of acute treatment and who would otherwise have needed to go to Musgrove Park Hospital; an X-ray department; a Community Rehabilitation Unit, which provides physiotherapy and occupational therapy services; an outpatients department, for visiting consultants and specialist clinicians providing speech and language therapy, pain clinic, haematology clinic, Parkinsons clinics as well as elderly care; and a musculoskeletal clinic for back, shoulder and knee problems.
The hospital specialises in children, dementia, mental health, older people, sensory impairment, services for everyone and younger adults.
