Delhi United Football Club is an Indian football club from New Delhi, plays in the I-League 2nd division.
. They play their home games at Ambedkar Stadium, New Delhi. However, in DSA Senior Division season 2019-20 the club plays their home game at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, New Delhi. The club was established in 1995. They have previously participated in the 2012 Durand Cup.

History

Delhi United Football Club, earlier named as Gorkha Heroes was founded in 1995 by Founder Mr. Lal Bahadur Basnet. Gorkha Heroes was playing in Lower division of DSA League till 2007, until Mr.B.S.Mehra took over the club management. In 2007 Gorkha Heroes became champions of the 'B' Division without losing a single match and got promoted to the A Division. Their superb form continued in the 'A' Division as well as they were crowned champions in 2008–09 keeping their unbeaten record intact. Under the guidance and mentorship of Mr.B.S.Mehra the club touched new heights and finally broke into the top tier of Delhi football and got promoted to the Senior Division.
In the year 2009 Mehra finally realized that it is the right time to take the club under his guidance completely. He started to give more time to club activities and began to dream of making this club one of the best in Delhi and qualifying for the I-League 2nd Division. Following this dream he acted as its chairman and managing director and the name was changed to Delhi United FC from Gorkha Heroes to target a wider audience.
In the first year of their participation in the Senior Division, they made a huge impact and came runners-up without losing a single match in the 2009–10 season. They defeated City FC with a score of 13–0 in a match which is still the highest scoring game in Delhi’s top flight. In 2010–11 the club focused its attention on the I-League 2nd Division and strengthened their squad by signing big players like Rishi Kapur, Manoj Joshi, Monu Chaudhary, Vikas Rawat, Ajit, Rajkumar, Deepak Mehra and other top Delhi star players. Their hard work finally paid off and they became champions of the Senior Division by defeating Shahdara FC in the Final with a score of 3–2.
Delhi United FC gave the best performance in Durand Cup-2012 by qualifying for QFs by defeating Indian Navy, Army Greens in qualifying rounds. Played draw with Pailan Arrows in QFs & lost to Durand Cup winner Air India in their last match.
Winning the Senior Division finally confirmed their participation in the I-League 2nd Division for the 2012–13 campaign. They performed well in the I-League’s second tier and were the best team from North India.
Delhi United FC again participated in I-League 2nd Div in 2016–17 & secured IIIrd spot in the National II Division I-League final round competition 2016–17.

I League: 2018–Present

The AIFF have also worked on providing direct-entry for certain clubs into the I-League for this season. On 21 September 2018 it was revealed that both Mumbai FC and Delhi United FC had submitted documents for direct-entry into the I-League.
On 27th January 2020, a Delhi based fan club of former ISL franchise Delhi Dynamos, Dynamos Ultras were handed over the management of operational activities of the club. Mr. Aditya Raghav was appointed as the new team manager of the club. A few days later Mr. Ayush Bhuttan was appointed as the new head coach of the club. Under the new management, the club played 3 matches, winning 1 and losing 1 before the season was put on hold due to Coronavirus Outbreak.
