Deir ez-Zor Airport
Deir ez-Zor Airport is an airport serving Deir ez-Zor, a city in northeastern Syria.History
On October 15, 2012, there were heavy shelling by artillery and missiles on the city from the Airport. On 24 November 2012, rebels were surrounding the airport. During the night of 6 December 2014, ISIS took control over the missiles battalion to the northeast of the airport and tried to storm the airbase itself, but failed. On 5 September 2017, the Tiger Forces and the 17th Division troops started an offensive to eventually capture Thardeh Mountains, which were captured by ISIL fighters after CJTF-OIR forces conducted the September 2016 Deir ez-Zor air raid upon then-besieged Syrian Army soldiers and thus lift the siege of the airport imposed by ISIL since then. On 9 September 2017, SANA reported that Syrian forces had broken the siege of the Airport. Russia's Defense Ministry said the lifting of the siege had followed ″a massive air strike by the Russian Aerospace Forces″.Facilities
