Defense Innovation Advisory Board


The Defense Innovation Board is an organization set up in 2016 to bring the technological innovation and best practice of Silicon Valley to the U.S. Military. The board will have up to a dozen members selected by the chair in consultation with the US Secretary of Defense.
Ash Carter, US Secretary of Defense, announced that the board, modeled on the Defense Business Board would facilitate the Pentagon becoming more innovative and adaptive.
Joshua Marcuse is the inaugural and current Executive Director of the Defense Innovation Board.
The board traveled throughout the world during 2016 seeking innovative ideas from the servicemen involved in military operations to improve processes in use in all theaters of operation.
