Dean Knudson


Dean Knudson is the Chair of the Wisconsin Elections Commission. Knudson is a former State Representative, serving three terms in the Wisconsin State Assembly from the 30th district. He is also the former Mayor of Hudson, Wisconsin, taking office on April 15,2008 as the 52nd mayor of Hudson. He resigned in November 2010 when he was elected to the Assembly. Knudson served three terms as Alderman on the Hudson City Council from 1995 to 2001.
Knudson attended North Dakota State University before receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Iowa State University in 1986.

Electoral history

The 2008 mayoral election took an unusual twist when Knudson's opponent, Todd Erskine, suspended his campaign and released an endorsement of Knudson. "I think he's more qualified for the job," Erskine said of Knudson. "So I'm supporting him."
Knudson was re-elected over challenger Kevin Hartman in 2010 receiving 93% of the vote. Knudson declined to run for reelection in 2016.
