David Lust


David Ellwood Lust is an American politician and a Republican Majority Leader of the South Dakota House of Representatives representing District 34 since January 2007.

Early life and education

David Lust was born in Aberdeen, South Dakota. He attended Dartmouth College where he received his B.A. in government. He worked at an international development consulting firm in Chicago, Illinois for 3 years before returning to South Dakota to attend the University of South Dakota School of Law graduating with his J.D. in 1997.

Legal career

Lust graduated from the University of South Dakota School of Law in 1997. He served as a judicial law clerk for Judge Richard Howard Battey of the United States District Court for the District of South Dakota. He currently is a partner at Gunderson, Palmer, Nelson & Ashmore, LLP.
