Daniel Keen Congdon
Daniel Keen Congdon was the mayor of the City of Fremantle in Western Australia from 1886 to 1888.Biography
Daniel Keen Congdon was born in 1836 in Chatham, Kent to William John and Sarah Ann née Scott. Congdon migrated to Western Australia with his parents from Kent in 1853. His father was a pharmacist and worked for the Western Australian Penal Department. On 22 December 1861 he married Jane Ainslie née Fairbairn. They had thirteen children. In 1885 he was elected the mayor of the City of Fremantle a position in which he served for three years. He was re-elected as mayor in 1891. He was subsequently elected unanimously as the inaugural mayor of North Fremantle.
He was a member of the Western Australian Legislative Council from 1892 to 1900.
