Danau, Brunei


Danau, officially known in Malay as Kampung Danau, is a coastal village in Tutong, a district of Brunei. It is a village subdivision under the Mukims of Brunei or subdistrict of Telisai. The population of Danau is 1,059.

Administration

Danau is primarily governed as a village subdivision, the third- and lowest-level administrative division of Brunei. It is a part of the subdivisions of Telisai, a Mukims of Brunei of Tutong. As a village, the residents of Danau is headed by a village head, and the incumbent is Abdullah bin Mohd Tahir.
Danau has two postcodes areas, namely Danau and Penapar Danau, with the postcodes TC2345 and TC2545 respectively.

Infrastructure

Dewan Kemasyarakatan Kampung Danau is the community centre of the village.
Danau has two public schools: Danau Primary School, a Cluster 5 school, provides general primary education to the resident pupils of Danau, where as Danau Religious School provides primary religious education for its Muslim pupils.
There is a village mosque in Danau, namely Kampong Danau Mosque, which serves the need for its Muslim residents for communal religious prayers and activities, in particular Jumu'ah or the Friday prayers. The mosque was built in 1972 and completed in the following year. Its present building can accommodate up to 200 worshippers at one time.
