. The
camp
is
recorded
as having a population of
6,000
people
, mostly
Ethiopians
that
resisted
the
Italian
rule
in Italian
East Africa
. Many
accounts
report
that half of the camp's population
died
from
malnutrition
,
malaria
, and other
diseases
.
