Dabo kolo


Dabo kolo is an Ethiopian and Eritrean snack. They are small pieces of baked bread that are similar to pretzels and kolo. Kolo made from roasted barley, chickpeas and peanuts are often sold by kiosks and street vendors wrapped in a paper cone.

The dish

Dabo means bread, and kolo is the word for roasted barley and also for coffee beans. They are a special dish during the Ethiopian New Year.
Dabo kolos are traditionally served during Shabbat meals by the Beta Israel.
