- 2008 When District 79 Republican Representative Chris Crider left the Legislature and left the seat open, Halford ran in the August 7, 2008 Republican Primary, winning with 1,832 votes, and won the November 4, 2008 General election with 11,306 votes against Democratic nominee Jim Ryal.
- 2010 Halford was unopposed for the August 5, 2010 Republican Primary, winning with 6,536 votes, and won the November 2, 2010 General election with 11,207 votes against Democratic nominee Joe Shepard.
