Courtney Solomon


Courtney Solomon is an accomplished writer, director, producer and entrepreneur from Toronto, Canada. He is responsible for the creation of many franchises and has been involved with production, marketing and distribution of over 80 movies, creating a significant film library.

Life and career

At 19, he formed Sweetpea Entertainment to fulfill his vision to acquire the rights and bring the world famous "Dungeons & Dragons" property to the big screen. At 26, Dungeons and Dragons film became his first producing and directing project, grossing over $33M globally. A new theatrical version is currently in the works at Paramount Pictures for 2021.
Thereafter, he formed After Dark Films to produce horror, thriller and action titles. He launched it with An American Haunting, starring Sissy Spacek and Donald Sutherland, a story based on Tennessee's Bell Witch legend. Personally handling the entire release campaign with no prior experience, it opened #2 in US. This success resulted in a long term distribution and co-production arrangement with Lionsgate Films. Today, After Dark owns its own film library of over 80 films.
In 2014, Solomon partnered with Mark Canton, one of Hollywood's most prolific studio heads and Producers on a slate of Dramatic Feature films, including the critically acclaimed Cake starring Jennifer Aniston. Other films were Mr. Church, The Comedian, The Yellow Birds and Burn Your Maps which won multiple film festivals.
In 2018, he acquired the rights and produced the first film based on the worldwide phenomenon and bestselling novel series After. The film was released in April 2019 and became an international hit, opening #1 in 22 countries grossing $80M Worldwide in theaters. The sequel, After We Collided, will come in 2020.
In 2018, he also acquired the rights to the world famous underground comic universe of the Fabulous Furry Freak Brothers created by Gilbert Shelton in 1968. Distributed through underground presses because of its racy nature, the Freak Brothers and their unnamed Cat became the hilarious voice of Cannabis smokers around the world.
This will be his first foray into the world of Adult-Animation with a super talented team of seasoned writers and actors to bring them to life.
He also has several films going into production: "Arthur The King" starring Mark Wahlberg and Red Sonja based on the world famous character and comic book by Roy Thomas and Barry Smith.
