Cornelius Sim


Cornelius Sim is the current Vicar Apostolic of Brunei, and Titular Bishop of Putia in Numidia. Born in Brunei as the Chinese descent and Dusunic descent, Sim became the country’s first ordained local priest in 1989 after finishing his Master’s degree in theology at Franciscan University of Steubenville. He worked in utilities operations of Brunei LNG from 1978 until 1985. He left Brunei Shell in 1985 and leeaving Brunei in 1986 to pursue his master's degree on 1988. After coming back from Ohio in 1988, he spent his time in St John Church Kuala Belait until his ordination as deacon on May 28, 1989. In October 2004, he was appointed as the Vicar Apostolic of Brunei, and on 21 January 2005, was consecrated by Archbishop Salvatore Pennacchio thus becoming a bishop.
