Congregation Adas Emuno (New Jersey)

Congregation Adas Emuno is a Reform synagogue in Leonia, New Jersey.
The congregation was founded in 1871 and had a synagogue building erected in 1883 in Hoboken, New Jersey. The small building contains a mix of Gothic and Romanesque styles and is the oldest synagogue building still standing in New Jersey. The building was used for some years as a church, but is now a residential building.
In 1974, the congregation moved to Leonia, to a brick building purchased from the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church.
Adas Emuno owns two cemeteries. The older, smaller one is a small section of Hoboken Cemetery. The larger cemetery was opened by the congregation on its own land in North Arlington, NJ, across Belleville Turnpike from the main Arlington Memorial Park. It opened in 1909. Adas Emuno later sold a large part of the new cemetery to a coalition of Newark synagogues.
