Colloredo di Monte Albano


Colloredo di Monte Albano is a comune in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about northwest of Trieste and about northwest of Udine.
Colloredo di Monte Albano borders the following municipalities: Buja, Cassacco, Fagagna, Majano, Moruzzo, Pagnacco, Rive d'Arcano, Treppo Grande, Tricesimo.
The 19th century writer Ippolito Nievo lived and wrote his novels in the castle of Colloredo.

History

Starting from the 11th century, it was a fief of the Viscounts of Mels, who had received it from the Counts of Tyrol.
In 1420, together will all Friuli, the hamlet was acquired by the Republic of Venice.
In 1976 the town was severely damaged by the Friuli earthquake.
