Clark Lea


Clark Lea is an American football coach who is currently the defensive coordinator at the University of Notre Dame.

Playing Career

Lea started his college career playing baseball. Lea helped lead Birmingham Southern to a NAIA championship his freshmen year. Lea then transferred to Belmont and played one year of baseball. Lea finished his college career at Vanderbilt playing fullback his last two years.

Coaching Career

Lea started his coaching career with assistant coaching jobs at UCLA, South Dakota State, Bowling Green and Syracuse. Lea followed Mike Elko to Notre Dame. Lea had previously worked with Elko at Bowling Green. Lea was promoted to Defensive Coordinator after Elko left for Texas A&M.
