Church of England Newspaper
The Church of England Newspaper is an independent Anglican weekly newspaper. Based in London, it is published in the United Kingdom on Fridays.
The Church of England Newspaper was founded in 1828, and continued under that title until 31 December 1948, when it merged with Church Family Newspaper, which itself was first issued on 8 February 1894. The newspaper is notable as the earliest church paper, and one of the oldest newspapers still in circulation. It is independent of the Church of England hierarchy. It normally adopts a broadly evangelical stance.
The paper was owned by the Conservative politician John Cordle from 1946.
