Christopher Waller

Christopher J. Waller is executive vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis. In July 2019, President Donald Trump tweeted his intent to nominate Waller and Judy Shelton to serve on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors.
In Senate Banking Committee hearings in February 2020, Republican and Democratic senators indicated no concerns about Waller but raised objections to Shelton.

Career in economics

Waller joined the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis in 2009. Previously, he taught economics at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Kentucky.
He is known as a "dove" favoring low interest rates. He has argued that the Fed should not raise rates at a time when inflation is low and people's savings are high.
