Chris Chappell

Chris Chappell is the host of the satirical online news program China Uncensored, which focuses on sensitive political issues in China with elements of humor. The program is produced by New York-based New Tang Dynasty Television, which is affiliated with Falun Gong, a new religious movement that is banned in mainland China.
Chappell, originally from Los Angeles, told The Daily Dot that he became interested in China at age 19 when he became ill and a friend introduced him to qigong, which he credited with curing him. He said he then studied the history of China and Chinese martial arts and trained with a Kung-fu master. He said he created China Uncensored while reporting on China because he was "tired of the unbiased attitude you had to have as an unbiased news reporter".
In April 2017, Apple TV temporarily blocked China Uncensored in China, citing local laws, and also blocked the show in Hong Kong and Taiwan.
Since October 2017, Chappell hosts the YouTube program America Uncovered. In April 2018, he debuted as co-host of China Unscripted, a podcast with Matt Gnaizda and Shelley Zhang.
