Choceň


Choceň is a town in the Pardubice Region of the Czech Republic. The population is around 8,500.

History

The first written records of the town date from 1227. In 1562 the construction of Choceň Castle began.
In 1947 there were 6,789 inhabitants. The town was a rail junction at the time. It is still situated on a main railway link between Prague, Pardubice, Ústí nad Orlicí and Brno, and is served by Choceň railway station.

Economy

Since 1928, there is a significant dairy company Choceňská mlékárna in the town.
