Chisamba Lungu


Chisamba Lungu is a Zambian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Buildcon. He is also a Zambian international. He primarily plays as an attacking midfielder and a winger.
He plays an attacking role, most often playing as either a striker or as a winger, and is known for his pace and dribbling. He is able to play on either wing as well through the center of the pitch, making him a versatile attacker, capable of playing in any offensive position. Two of Chisamba Lungu's most common exemplary traits are his pace and technical ability, which have been described as "astonishing" and "mesmerizing", respectively.

Career

Chisamba Lungu came on loan from his youth club Kafue FC to Zanaco FC from Lusaka, who played in the Zambian Premier League. In Zanaco, he played with coach Wesley Mondo alongside many other talented young players, including Banda Henry, Ignitious Lwipa, Rogers Kola, Yorum Mwila and Stophira Sunzu. In November 2008 went on trial alongside Nathan Sinkala as part of an Africa team at several test matches in Russia, which also included numerous European scouts. In the spring of 2009 he trained for three months with the Armenian first division Pjunik Yerevan, before he finally got a contract with Georgian first division Baia Sugdidi in the middle of 2009, where he was one of the team's performers. In the meantime his transfer rights were with Lusaka Celtic, which co-operates with the Russian player agency ESA, which is also responsible for Lungu. After a season in Georgia, Lungu moved to the Russian second division Ural Oblast Sverdlovsk in June 2010, where he became the first African player in club history.
Lungu passed through all Zambian selection teams. With the U-17 selection under coach Wedson Nyirenda he failed in 2006 in the qualification for the U-17 African Championship 2007. Already in 2008, he temporarily belonged to the Zambian league selection, which played against Botswana in the qualification for the African Nations Championship 2009. In the qualifying for the U-20 African Championship 2009 he played with the Zambian team in the first qualifying round against Mauritius, in December 2008 followed the bronze medal at the SADC Zone Six U-20 tournament. After his change to Georgia, Lungu also trained with the Georgian U-21 selection temporarily, but a change of association did not come about.
For the CECAFA Cup in December 2010, Lungo was named by national coach Dario Bonetti for the first time in the Zambian national team. He made his debut in the opening match against Tanzania, but broke his foot in the 1–0 win and fell out for the next tournament. With the Zambian Olympic qualifying, Lungu played in the qualification for the 2012 Olympic Games in the UK and received ovations for his dribbling from the hosts' hosts in a 1-0 victory in Rwanda. The team was ultimately defeated by Algeria, thereby failing to participate in the U-23 African Championship and thus a possible qualification for the Olympics.
Under Bonetti's successor, Hervé Renard, Lungu traveled to the training camp to India in November 2011 with a mainly active player in Zambia and recommended a place in the squad for the 2012 African Championship. Renard also used the offensive exterior as an outside defense and finally nominated for the continental finals. Lungu was in the first two tournament matches against Senegal and Libya as the right-wing defending champion in the starting position, but was decisively involved in all three of the contenders. For the last group game against co-host Equatorial Guinea, Lungu moved into the midfield, a position he also accompanied the 3–0 victory in the quarter-final against Sudan. In the semi-final 1–0 win against the favored Ghanaians, Renard decided for a more defensive variant, replacing Lungu by Francis Kasonde, but Lungu came in the second half. In the final against the Côte d'Ivoire, he was then back in the starting lineup and converted a penalty in the 8–7 victory in the penalty shoot-out.
In August 2017, Lungu joined Alanyaspor on a three-year contract. He made his league debut for the club on 25 August 2017 in a 1–1 home draw with Kardemir Karabükspor. He was brought on in the 15th minute for an injured Isaac Sackey.
On 27 February 2018, Lungu returned to Zambia, signing with Buildcon.
In November 2018, Lungu signed for fellow Zambia Super League club Nkana.
