Chinese Association for International Understanding


The Chinese Association for International Understanding is a Beijing-based non-profit registered in September 1981 whose stated goal is “letting the world understand China, and letting China understand the world.” Registered under the Ministry of Civil Affairs, CAFIU is reported to be a platform for the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China for international exchanges with academics, think tanks, and civil society organizations. CAFIU's president is Ji Bingxuan and its vice president is Ai Ping, former vice minister of the International Liaison Department of the Communist Party of China. Yan Junqi is a former president of the organization. The organization publishes a journal titled International Understanding. CAFIU representatives attend and host events in support of the Belt and Road Initiative and One-China policy.
