China Immigration Inspection

The border inspection posts of the provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities are directly managed by the Central Government and are responsible for specific border inspection procedures.
China's border authorities serve as law enforcement agencies. They are responsible for safeguarding national sovereignty, security, social order, management, and transportation of important means upon entry and exit.
Administrative work is mainly handled by the entry and exit administration departments of the public security organs of the provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the Central Government. Chinese border authorities also administer entry and exit border inspection posts of Beijing, Tianjin, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Xiamen, Zhuhai, Shantou and Haikou.
The Ministry of Public Security operates more than 278 border control checkpoints, covering entry into China by air, water and land.
