Charles H. Russell (Brooklyn)


Charles Hazen Russell was an American lawyer and politician from New York.

Life

He was the son of Thomas Victor Russell and Lucia Lavilla Russell. He attended Canton Academy and St. Lawrence University. Then he studied law in Philadelphia, was admitted to the bar 1877, and practiced in Brooklyn. On January 30, 1878, he married Stella Goodrich.
He was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1880 and 1881.
He was a member of the New York State Senate in 1882 and 1883.
He was a presidential elector in 1900, voting for William McKinley and Theodore Roosevelt.
In 1906, he married Annah Ayres Linquist. He died in March 1912, and was buried at the Green-Wood Cemetery in Brooklyn.
New York Attorney General Leslie W. Russell was his first cousin. Rev. Samuel Russell was his great-great-great-grandfather.
