Charanjit Singh


Charanjit Singh is a former field hockey player from India. He captained the Indian hockey team that won the gold medal in the 1964 Summer Olympics at Tokyo, Japan.
He is an alumnus of Col. Brown Cambridge School, Dehra Dun and Punjab University. He retired as Director Department of Physical Education in Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla. He currently stays in Una, Himachal Pradesh. His brother, Baldev Singh Dogra, another hockey player and an Air Force retiree resides in Delhi.
Charanjit Singh won a silver medal in the 1962 Asian Games. In the sixth minute of the final, his nose was fractured by a penalty corner from Manzoor Hussain Atif and he had to be moved to the hospital.
