Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly
The Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea presides over the sessions of the Supreme People's Assembly, the legislature of North Korea. The current chairman is Pak Thae-song, who was elected on 11 April 2019.Powers
Article 94 of the Constitution of North Korea states that the Chairman of the Supreme People's Assembly is elected by the Supreme People's Assembly to preside over its sessions. The chairman has vice-chairmen elected alongside him.
From 1972 until 1998, the Chairman also served as the President of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly when the SPA is not in session.
