Cattle Drive

Cattle Drive is a 1951 Technicolor Western film directed by Kurt Neumann starring Joel McCrea, Dean Stockwell and Chill Wills. Much of the film was shot in the Death Valley National Park, California and Paria, Utah.

Plot

Chester Graham Jr., the spoiled young son of a wealthy railroad owner, manages to get himself lost in the middle of nowhere when the train he is riding makes a water stop. He is found by a cowboy who is part of a cattle drive. The boy learns the value of hard work, self-discipline and comradeship while working with the men on the trail to Santa Fe. The theme of a rich brat developing strength of character and losing the chip on his shoulder in the process is a remake of 1937's Oscar-winning film Captains Courageous, based on the novel by Rudyard Kipling.
