Casualty (series 27)


The twenty-seventh series of Casualty began airing on BBC One on 18 August 2012 with an episode featuring a disaster at a music festival. Filming series 26 was completed in April 2012 and filming series 27 began a week later. The first episode was in the normal formata 50-minute episode. This season is 44 episodes, increasing from 42 for the previous one. Viewing figures for the first episode were 5.19 million viewers, continuing to be one of the most watched programmes of a Saturday night.
This series saw the departures of Dylan Keogh, Linda Andrews, Lloyd Asike, and long-standing character Nick Jordan ; as well as the returns of former nurse, now consultant Martin "Ash" Ashford who last appeared fifteen years previously and former ambulance dispatcher, now receptionist Louise Tyler. This series also saw the introduction of four new student nurses: Ally Hunter, Aoife O'Reilly, Robyn Miller, and Jamie Collier - with only the latter two receiving a promotion to staff nurse and continuing into the next series.

Overview

Most of the cast from Series 26 carried over into Series 27. Scarlett Conway and Nick Jordan left the show in the finale of Series 26. Tamzin Bayle and Louise Tyler returned in episode one. Denise Andrews Linda's sister returned briefly as the cleaner in ED. Dylan Keogh left the show in the final episode of 2012. Four new Student Nurses joined the show in January 2013. Nick Jordan returned for four episodes and Yvonne Rippon returned for two episodes. Former nurse, Martin "Ash" Ashford returned after a 15-year break in February as a Locum Consultant. Linda Andrews left in episode 35 and Lloyd Asike left in episode 38.

Main characters

will continue to be series producer. Oliver Kent has been announced as the new Executive Producer of the show, a post which he will take up in April following the departure of Johnathan Young.
