Carlos Emmons (politician)


Carlos Emmons was an American physician and politician from New York.

Life

He was the son of Seth Emmons and Esther Emmons.
He began to practice medicine in Springville in 1823. He married Harriet Eaton, and they had three daughters.
He entered politics as a Whig, and in 1856 joined the Republican Party. He was a member of the New York State Assembly in 1834 and 1841.
He was a member of the New York State Senate from 1845 to 1847, sitting in the 68th, 69th and 70th New York State Legislatures.
On October 21, 1847, he married Caroline Wiltse, and their daughter was Kate Lucia Cummings.
He held the rank of Assistant Hospital Surgeon during the Civil War.
He was buried at the Maplewood Cemetery in Springville.
