. It was delineated from
aerial photographs
taken by U.S.
Navy
Operation Highjump
and named by the
Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names
after J.L. Elliott,
chaplain
on the
sloop
Vincennes
of the
United States Exploring Expedition
under
Charles Wilkes
.
