Caledonia Pride


The Caledonia Pride are a Scottish women's basketball team based in Edinburgh. They are the first and only women's professional basketball team in Scotland, competing in the Women's British Basketball League.

History

In May 2016 the Women's British Basketball League awarded a franchise to basketballscotland. The Pride are the first Scottish team to play in the league, originally established to help better prepare the Scottish national team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, Australia. In August 2016, the name Caledonia Pride was chosen. The team's first coach was announced to be Edinburgh University women's head coach Bart Sengers, and the team's first signings were Robyn Lewis, Kirstin Simpson, and Hilary Wood.

In 2017, the team played a home game at the University of Edinburgh's Pleasance Sports Complex.

In 2018, the team played home games at the University of Edinburgh's Pleasance Sports Complex, the Lagoon Leisure Centre in Paisley and the Grangemouth Sports Complex.
