César Rodríguez Garavito


César Rodríguez Garavito is a Colombian legal scholar, sociologist and human rights advocate. His research focuses on the transformation of law and politics in the context of globalization. In September, 2015, he became Executive Director of the Center for Law, Justice and Society, a human rights think-do tank based in Bogotá, Colombia, which he co-founded in 2003. He is Associate Professor of Law and founding Director of the Program on Global Justice and Human Rights at the University of los Andes. He has been a visiting professor at Stanford Law School, Brown University, the University of Pretoria, the Getulio Vargas Foundation, Central European University, the at Åbo Akademi University, ITAM and the of Quito.
Rodríguez Garavito serves in the advisory boards of the Annual Review of Law and Social Science, , the Global Centre for Pluralism and the . He serves in the executive boards of WITNESS, and the . He is a lead author in the and co-Director of the . He writes a weekly op-ed for El Espectador.

Education

He holds a Ph.D. and an M.S. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, an M.A. from NYU’s Institute for Law and Society, an M.A. from the National University of Colombia, and a J.D. from the University of los Andes.
