Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011


Bulgaria participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Bulgaria selected their entry through a televised national final, organised by Bulgarian broadcaster Bulgarian National Television. This was the country's seventh participation in the contest since 2005.

Before Eurovision

Evroviziya 2011

Evroviziya 2011 was be the national final format developed by BNT in order to select Bulgaria's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.

Competing entries

Songwriters were able to submit their entries until 9 February 2011. Songs were required to be Bulgarian national product and should not have been published before 1 September 2010. A jury committee made up of at least 31 composers, poets, producers, performers, music educators and members of the media, advertising agencies and professional organizations, titled Academy, received questionnaires in which they presented proposals with an official letter three performers they would like to see in the 2011 contest. Performers ranked top ten must submit up to three songs for the national final. The list of competing artists and songs were released on 14 February 2011.

Final

The final took place on 23 February 2011 at the National Palace of Culture in Sofia, hosted by Maria Ilieva and Orlin Pavlov. Nineteen songs competed and the winner was determined by a 50/50 combination of points awarded by SMS voting and the members of the Academy.

At Eurovision

Bulgaria competed in the 2nd Semi Final or the Eurovision Song Contest 2011 on Thursday, 12 May. The country did not qualify for the final, but achieved joint 12th place in the semi-final with Slovakia. Both countries managed to receive 48 points.
