Building Rome


Building Rome is an independent American alternative rock band from St. Louis, Missouri.

History

Building Rome has recorded four albums, the first being Something Left of Nothing, released August 25, 2005, featured fifteen tracks including the first release of "Miss You More," Building Rome's first fan favorite which was re-released on their EP and second release Second Chance for Worst Impressions, released November 10, 2006. Second Chance for Worst Impressions was recorded with producer Marc McClusky and features the song that has received the most live requests to date, "Gangster Baby," about a self-conscious gangster who wants to be a rapper, but is very unsure of himself. Building Rome's third release, entitled We're All So Bored... was a compilation of Second Chance for Worst Impressions as well as previously recorded demos, released January 27, 2008. The album in available exclusively online with a goal of giving new listeners a chance to have access to most of Building Rome's music in one place.
Building Rome began to attract national attention with the release of their most recent album, Nightmare. Released September 15, 2009, Nightmare is a concept album loosely based on the movie Jacob's Ladder. The album was produced by Steven Haigler,, and features guest appearances from Tim Convy and Tim Ferrell of Ludo, Dave Grelle of The Feed, and Adam Barr of The Goodtime Engineers. In addition, two of the songs on the album were co-written with Ted Bruner, a songwriter signed with Warner Chappell.
The band went on hiatus in late 2010 but have since played two reunion shows. The members are currently working on solo projects.

Touring

Building Rome is consistently touring throughout the Midwest, as well as to national festivals. Building Rome played four shows in Austin, TX, in May 2010 during SXSW, including opening up Redgorilla Music Fest at Blind Pig Pub on 6th Street. Building Rome has played with Ludo, Fall Out Boy, The Ataris, and opened for Story of the Year at the hometown release of their 2010 album, The Constant.
Building Rome has also been recently added to the 2010 Vans Warped Tour date on July 5 for St. Louis, MO at Verizon. This show is along with many upcoming tours that Building Rome is embarking on.
On July 20, 2012 Building Rome played at the Fair Saint Louis show and opened up for The Offspring, it was their first show since breaking up in late 2010. Original bassist Jason Sneed made the trip to play the show, he was replaced by the current bassist after playing a few songs.
In 2014, the band played a second reunion show at the Mad Magician in St. Louis.
