Buchillon
Buchillon is a municipality in the Swiss canton of Vaud, located in the district of Morges.
History
Buchillon is first mentioned in 1228 as Chanliva. In 1339 it was mentioned as Buschillion.Geography
Buchillon has an area,, of. Of this area, or 41.8% is used for agricultural purposes, while or 31.5% is forested. Of the rest of the land, or 25.8% is settled, or 1.9% is either rivers or lakes.Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 20.2% and transportation infrastructure made up 5.2%. Out of the forested land, all of the forested land area is covered with heavy forests. Of the agricultural land, 28.6% is used for growing crops and 6.1% is pastures, while 7.0% is used for orchards or vine crops. All the water in the municipality is flowing water.
The municipality was part of the Morges District until it was dissolved on 31 August 2006, and Buchillon became part of the new district of Morges.
The municipality is located along Lake Geneva. It consists of the village of Buchillon and settlement of Chanivaz in the Aubonne river delta.

Buchillon has a population of. , 21.0% of the population are resident foreign nationals. Over the last 10 years the population has changed at a rate of -5.7%. It has changed at a rate of -8.5% due to migration and at a rate of 3.2% due to births and deaths.Most of the population speaks French, with German being second most common and English being third. There are 14 people who speak Italian.

Politics
In the 2007 federal election the most popular party was the LPS Party which received 28.08% of the vote. The next three most popular parties were the SVP, the FDP and the Green Party. In the federal election, a total of 221 votes were cast, and the voter turnout was 58.5%.Economy

In the Vaud cantonal school system, two years of non-obligatory pre-school are provided by the political districts. During the school year, the political district provided pre-school care for a total of 631 children of which 203 children received subsidized pre-school care. The canton's primary school program requires students to attend for four years. There were 33 students in the municipal primary school program. The obligatory lower secondary school program lasts for six years and there were 26 students in those schools.
