Brooke Totman


Brooke Totman is an American comedic actress. Totman is most notable as a cast member on the sketch comedy series MADtv, where she was a featured cast member.

Life and career

Brooke Totman was born in Roseburg, Oregon and raised in both Roseburg and Grants Pass, OR. During her senior year in high school, she received a college scholarship from the America's Junior Miss Program after she won the title of Oregon's Junior Miss. Totman attended the University of Oregon where she received a degree in Theatre Arts. During her senior year, Totman spent a semester in London, studying theatre criticism. After college, Totman moved to Los Angeles where she spent four years training at the prestigious improv and sketch comedy theatre, the Groundlings, eventually becoming a member of their Sunday company.
During its fifth season, Totman joined the cast of MADtv as a featured player. Totman was noted for her celebrity impressions of Ann-Margret and Jennifer Love Hewitt. She also premiered original characters on the show that she had developed during her time at the Groundlings. After her tenure on MADtv, Totman made several guest appearances on television shows in Los Angeles, appearing in The King of Queens, Less Than Perfect and Judging Amy. She also starred in R3, directed by Betty Thomas, a feature that was unfortunately, never released.
In 2004, Totman left Los Angeles to return to her home state of Oregon. After appearing in several television programs, films, plays and sketch comedy shows in Portland, Totman decided to start teaching - eventually opening her own acting studio in 2016. In 2017, Brooke created the sketch comedy company, NIGHT BUS – a character-driven ensemble inspired by the weird and wonderful. Brooke writes and acts in the company and also serves as its producer and director. Brooke has continued to work in television while living in Portland, guest-starring on The CW's Life After First Failure, Portlandia, Documentary Now! and starring in the critically acclaimed series, The Benefits of Gusbandry on Amazon.
