Brandon Stirling Baker


Brandon Stirling Baker is an American lighting designer working internationally in ballet, opera and theatre.

His lighting can be seen in the repertories of New York City Ballet,, American Ballet Theatre, Miami City Ballet,
San Francisco Ballet, Dutch National Ballet, Hong Kong Ballet, Berlin Staatsballet, Joffrey Ballet, Pacific Northwest Ballet, Houston Ballet, Boston Ballet, Semperoper Ballet Dresden, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Cincinnati Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet and Opera Philadelphia.
Mr. Baker is a graduate of the California Institute of the Arts and studied at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama in Glasgow, Scotland
In 2019, Baker received the prestigious for his lighting of Justin Peck's Reflections.

In 2018 Baker developed a new ballet inspired by light at the Center for Ballet and the Arts at NYUhttps://www.nytimes.com/2014/09/03/arts/dance/new-center-at-nyu-focuses-on-dance-and-the-arts.html, a research facility in New York City dedicated to the research and development of artists working in dance. The ballet featured new choreography by Jamar Roberts of Alvin Ailey and was performed by Patricia Delgado formerly of the Miami City Ballet.
In 2019 the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum Works & Process series commissioned Baker with a special program “The Choreography of Light” dedicated to his work as a lighting designer for ballet. The New York Times featured Brandon Stirling Baker's work as a special profile in the January 2019 Arts and Leisure section.
