Bosnia and Herzegovina in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008


Bosnia and Herzegovina was represented by Laka in the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Pokušaj".

Before Eurovision

Internal selection

The Bosnia-Herzegovinian national broadcaster announced that the Bosnia-Herzegovinian entry would be selected during a show called BH Eurosong on 2 March 2008. Firstly the artist would be selected and then the song was to be chosen while both would separately be revealed. BHRT opened a submission period for interested artists and songwriters to submit their entries until 20 December 2007. From all 50 songs submitted to BHRT, 31 songs were shortlisted, and a seven-member committee formed by BHRT selected the winning entry on 27 December 2007.
On 2 March 2008, BHRT announced Laka as the Bosnian entrant at the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song "Pokušaj". The song was presented in a prime-time live special on Sunday, 2 March 2008 on BHRT and BHT SAT.

At Eurovision

Since Bosnia & Herzegovina had come in 11th in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2007, Laka were obliged to perform their song in one of the two semi-finals of the 2008 contest. The EBU split up countries with a friendly voting history into the two different semi-finals, to give a better chance to other countries to win. On 28 January 2008, the EBU held a special draw which determined that Bosnia-Herzegovina would be in the first semi-final, held on 20 May 2008. performed 13th, on 20 May 2008, following Andorra and preceding Armenia.Their entry scored a total of 72 points and placed 9th qualified to the final. In the final, Laka performed 6th following Armenia and preceding Israel finished 10th with 110 points.
