Bocage's akalat


The Bocage's akalat is a species of bird in the family Muscicapidae. It is found in Angola, Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Tanzania, and Zambia. Its natural habitats are boreal forests, subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical swamps, and subtropical or tropical moist montane forests.
The common name and Latin binomial commemorate the Portuguese naturalist José Vicente Barbosa du Bocage.
The subspecies S. b. poensis on the island of Bioko is sometimes considered to be a separate species, Alexander's akalat. This subspecies' name commemorates Boyd Alexander, an English ornithologist.
